Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GUJCET)

Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GUJCET) occurs every year in the state of Gujarat, India. This entrance examination is the key to get chance in engineering and medical colleges to get the respective degrees.

The candidates who have passed the higher secondary (10+2) examination and have the science subjects like physics, chemistry, mathematics, biology and statistics are eligible to sit for this examination. The candidates should pass in all these subjects individually.

The Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GUJCET) is meant only for the candidates from the state of Gujarat. The candidates who is not staying in Gujarat but they are the heir of any Indian government employee (central government employee or in Indian Army or any military force etc) from Gujarat but staying in other place for work is eligible to sit for the examination. The candidates from states other than Gujarat are also eligible to appear in the entrance examination but there are certain constraints that are set up by the concerned board of examination.

The application form is generally dispatched in the month of January and the entrance examination is held in the month of April. It is quite tough and competitive examination.

Through this entrance test candidates can get chance to study medical and engineering. Selection of the candidates is done basically on the merit basis. The qualifying candidates who are in the top position in the merit list of the result in for the medical stream will get chance in MBBS degree. After MBBS course comes the dental science that is BDS and then comes paramedical course.

The candidates who have qualified and get rankings in the engineering examination merit list will get chance in the engineering and technological colleges. There are many engineering colleges in Gujarat. The colleges are both government and government aided. There are many streams of engineering available in these engineering colleges. The various streams are as follows:

  • Electronics and Communication
  • Electrical and Electronics
  • Electrical
  • Mechanical
  • Civil
  • Automobile
  • Information Technology

There are also various other streams. The candidates whose ranking are good in the merit list will get chance in the comparatively good colleges and in their desired streams.

Due to the increase of the IT companies and rapid increase of industries in Gujarat the students of Gujarat are interested to study engineering course. So the number of candidates for Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GUJCET) is increasing.
