Jammu and Kashmir Common Entrance Test (JK-CET)

Jammu and Kashmir Common Entrance Test is conducted by the Board of Professional Entrance Examinations in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, India. This board is controlled by the government of Jammu and Kashmir. This is a competitive examination. This examination helps successful candidates to get chance in the medical and technological colleges. This examination takes place each time in every year.

The notification of this examination is published in the month of June. The entrance test occur mainly in the month of July.The candidates who have secured 50% in the (10+2) examination are eligible to apply for this examination but for the reserved candidates the minimum secured mark in (10+2) examination is reduced to 40%.

  • Candidates who have English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology in their (10+2) level will be eligible to sit for the admission test for medical science including dental, veterinary, and physiotherapy and bachelor’s degree in agriculture, sericulture, horticulture, forestry, operation theatre technology, medical laboratory technology, radiation and nursing(only for the female candidates).
  • Candidates who have English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in their (10+2) level will be eligible to sit for the admission test for engineering degree course.
  • Candidates who have English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics in their (10+2) level will be eligible to sit for the admission test for B.Tech degree in agricultural technology.

This is a state level examination. The candidates who are the citizens of India are eligible to sit for this entrance test. Some reserved seats are there for the candidates who have got ranks in the all India exams. The remaining seats are allotted to the candidates who have cleared Jammu and Kashmir Common Entrance Examination and top the merit list. The successful candidates have to go through a counseling phase and after that they can choose the colleges that they prefer. But generally the candidates get admission in the different streams and also in the colleges depending upon their scores in the merit list.

The application for the Jammu and Kashmir Common Entrance Examination is done in demand draft that is payable to a given branch of a bank that is mentioned in the notice. But nowadays application for this entrance examination is also done by on-line. This examination is meant mainly for the candidates of Jammu and Kashmir. This examination helps to sort out the eligible candidates for studying degree course in engineering, medical and agricultural technology.
