NIT MCA Entrance Test (NIMCET) is an entrance test that is conducted by the National Institute of Technology for selecting candidates for MCA course. This examination is held all over India.
Mode of applying: the application is done by online. The online registration is commenced generally in the month of January/February and closes in the month of March. The demand draft is sent by post.
Centers: the candidates who pass the entrance test will get chance to study MCA in different institutions under NIT in India.

NIMCET-NIT MCA Entrance Test is the only test that leads to the admission in MCA in the different branches of NIT. There are no other means to get admission in these colleges.
The examination occurs in the middle month of May generally. It is quite tough examination.
Eligibility criteria to sit for the exam: the candidates who have scored 65% or 6.5 CGPA in their bachelor’s degree are eligible to sit for this entrance exam. The candidates who have mathematics or statistics or business mathematics or business statistics or computer science with mathematics as the basic subject in their three years bachelor’s degree course and also have mathematics as one of the subjects in 10+2 standard are eligible to sit for this entrance test.
Pattern of examination: the examination pattern is multiple choice question type. The medium of the question is English. There are altogether 120 questions that have to be completed within 120 minutes. The answer sheets will OMR type so the examinees should be careful enough to darken the circles of the right answers minutely. If some mistake is done the answer sheet may get cancelled. Negative marking is there.
The examination is categorized into four divisions. These are as follows:
- Mathematics has 40 questions
- General English has 15 questions
- Computer awareness has 15 questions
- Analytical ability and Logical reasoning has 55 questions
Mode of selection: the candidates who are qualified in NIMCET-NIT MCA Entrance Test get rankings based on their performance and eligibility. The candidates get chance in the NIT through counseling and depending on the merit list.
Due to the increase in the number of jobs in the IT sectors more and more candidates are applying for this entrance test. The number of examinees is increasing every year.
