1414Khizr Khan, governer of Lahore, replaced Tuglaq on Delhi's throne. He was founder of Sayyid Dynasty. The Sayyid dynasty was the fourth dynasty of the Delhi Sultanate from 1414 to 1451. They succeeded the Tughlaq dynasty and ruled that sultanate until they were displaced by the Lodi dynasty.
1883‘Veer' Savarkar was born. Vinayak Damodar Savarkar was an Indian pro-independence activist, politician as well as a poet, writer and playwright. He advocated dismantling the system of caste in Hindu culture, and reconversion of the converted Hindus back to Hindu religion. Savarkar created the term Hindutva, and emphasised its distinctiveness from Hinduism which he associated with social and political communalism.
1895Madhavrao Khanderao Bagal was born. Madhavrao Khanderao Bagal also called Bhai Madhavrao Bagal was noted a writer, artist, journalist, social reformer, political activist, orator and freedom fighter from Kolhapur.
1903Shantanu L. Kirloskar was born. Shantanurao Laxmanrao Kirloskar was an Indian businessman of Maharashtrian Karade Brahmin family. He was instrumental behind the rapid growth of the Kirloskar Group.
1907The first Isle of Man TT race was held. The International Isle of Man TT (Tourist Trophy) Race is an annual motor-cycle racing event held on the Isle of Man which was for many years the most prestigious motorcycle race in the world, and is reported as being the most dangerous motorcycle road-race in the world.
1918The Azerbaijan Democratic Republic and the First Republic of Armenia declare their independence. The First Republic of Armenia, known at the time of its existence as the Republic of Armenia was the first modern Armenian state since the fall of the Kingdom of Cilicia in 1375.
1937Volkswagen (VW), the German automobile manufacturer is founded. Volkswagen is a German automobile manufacturer headquartered. 1995National Centre for Labour launched in Bangalore to give a boost to the unorganised worker's movement in India. The creation of NCL as a national confederation of Labour organisation in the unorganised / Informal sector of India was the outcome of a study of informal sector organisations that concluded that the absence of a collective voice for the informal sector workers / labour at the national level resulted in their concerns not being effectively addressed at the national level.
1998Nuclear testing: Pakistan responds to a series of nuclear tests by India with five of its own codenamed Chagai-I, prompting the United States, Japan, and other nations to impose economic sanctions. Pakistan celebrates Youm-e-Takbir annually.
