  • The price of non-subsidized or market-priced domestic cooking gas LPG was cut by Rs 5 to Rs 616 per 14.2 kg cylinder in Delhi. The reduction came on the back of two successive hikes in March and April by Rs 5 and Rs 11 respectively.
  • The Telecom Authority of India (TRAI) had reduced the ceiling rates allowed for national and roaming calls and SMS due to which all major companies have cut the call rates while on roaming, both incoming and outgoing, by 23-40 percent and SMS by upto by 75 percent with effect from May 1, 2015.
  • ONGC’s Mayooka Johny won the long jump gold medal and qualified for Wuhan Asian Games on May 1, 2015 at the Mangala Stadium. She won the gold with a jump of 6.34m on her final attempt.
