  • Nobel winning German writer Gunter Grass who gave voice to the generation coming of age during the Nazi horrors passed away at the age of 87 on April 13, 2015. He was best known for `The Tin Drum’, part of his `Danzig Trilogy’.
  • The Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij announced the cabinet rank to Yoga Guru Ramdev Baba. He will also be honoured by the state government in Panchkula on April 21.
  • Five Armed Force personnel died and injuring seven others in the fourth time in 72 hours in Chhattisgarh on 12th April 2015.
  • India has again topped the global remittance chart for 2014, pulling in $70.38 billion -3.7% of the country’s nearly $ 2 trillion GDP -from its migrant workforce. China follows with $64.14 billion.
  • For the first time, B R Ambedkar’s birth anniversary–April 14–has been declared a holiday in the BJP-led municipal corporations. The civic agencies will not be working on April 14.
