  • Zimbabwe cricket team called off Pakistan tour on May 14, 2015 due to terrorist attack on a Karachi bus on 13th May.
  • Chinese President Xi Jinping welcomed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his hometown of Xi’an on May 14, 2015. Narendra Modi is on three day visit to China to discuss various points including terrorism, border issues and bilateral cooperation in development.
  • Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched a website to start digital campaign for the promotion of Nabakalebara festival with objective to make it a world event.
  • State bank of India has launched contact-less debit and credit card called sbiNTOUCH on May 14, 2015 using the latest near field technology (NFC). Customers can use it for transaction by just wabing it against the reader of the point-of-sale machine. Private Banks ICICI and HDFC have already launched NFC cards.
  • Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman held a meeting on May 14, 2015 to discuss about FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) in B2C E-commerce with about 60 players of this field including Flipkart, Amazon India, Snapdeal, eBay. At present 100% FDI in B2B E-commerce is allowed in India.

  • Gagan Narang and Abhinav Bindra failed to qualify for the final round of men’s 10m Air Rifle Event in International Shooting Sport Federation World Cup on May 14, 2015 at Fort Benning, United States. Olympic gold medalist Abhinav Bindra scored 624.6 and finished 15th in the qualification round.
  • Gagan Toor from India has won the NASA contest to name Mercury craters by suggesting the name Enheduanna for one of the five craters. Other four winning names for craters are Carolan, Karsh, Kulthum and Rivera. These names have been approved by the International Astronomical Union on May 14, 2015.
