  • Rail Budget presented by Suresh Prabhu on thursday and he changed the rules of the game dramatically when he became the first rail minister in memory, and perhaps the first ever, to not announce a single new train or a new railway line.
  • A train journey from Delhi to Mumbai or Kolkata may soon be an overnight affair, with the railways announcing a major change in the way these trains are run.
  • The finance ministry has opened up top jobs in five large state-run banks to the private sector and said it was willing to offer a “flexible“ salary package as part of its plans to professionalize the boards of the banks.
