  • Prime Minister has launched three social security schemes Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and Atal Pension Yojana on May 9, 2015 at 115 locations throughout the country. Jan Dhan Yojana was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014.
  • Spanish military transport plane Airbus A400M was crashed on May 9, 2015 near Seville, Spain. Four out six on board were killed in this accident while other two were seriously injured.
  • 2015 Moscow Victory Day parade was held on 9th May to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the capitulation of Nazi Germany in 1945 as the part of World War II. The United States, Australia, Canada and most EU (European Union) leaders did not take part in the celebration despite being invited because of Moscow alleged involvement in the Ukraine Crisis.
  • One villager named Sadaram Nag has been killed by Maoists on May 9, 2015 in Sukma district, Chhattisgarh in protest against continuing of a bridge at Marenga village. On the same day Maoists abducted more than 250 villagers and released rest of them after killing Sadaram Nag.
  • Egyptian Former president Hosni Mubarak was sentenced by the court to three years in jail on May 9, 2015 for corruption charges. Hosni and his sons Alaa and Gamal got sentenced to three years in jail and fined 125 million pound excluding an extra 21 million pounds.
  • India has won men’s hockey Test Series by taking the lead of 3-0. Japan was defeated by India in the fourth and last match of the series by 4-0 score, played on May 9, 2015 at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar. India had played a draw in the opening match before winning all three matches.
  • Shahryar Khan, Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board, was detained by immigration officials at the Kolkata airport on May 9, 2015 because of the strict visa rules that don’t allow entering Pakistan nationals from any other airport except at the Delhi, Amritsar and Mumbai airports.
  • The head coach of England cricket team Peter Moores has left from his position on May 9, 2015. He left his position just after the appointment of Andrew Strauss as director of the England Cricket Board and his sacking for the second time in his career.
  • Deepika Padukone is the new brand ambassador of Tanishq, a jewellery brand of Titan Company, announced on May 9, 2015 by the company.
  • INS Sardar Patel is the second base of the Indian Navy in Gujarat which was commissioned by Gujarat Chief Minister on May 9, 2015. INS Dwarka is the first base of Indian Navy in Gujarat.
