  • Air Chief Marshal NAK Browne has taken over as the 23rd Chief of the Air Staff from Air Chief Marshal PV Naik, who retires after 42 years of illustrious service.

  • D V Sadananda Gowda, former president of the Karnataka unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party, has been selected as the next chief minister of the state.

  • Harvard scholar Lobsang Sangay was sworn in as the new prime minister of the Tibetan government-in-exile, succeeding the Dalai Lama as the movement's political leader.
  • Rohit Nandan, an Indian Administrative Service officer, and currently a joint secretary in the Ministry of Civil Aviation is set to become the new chairman and managing director of Air India. He will be replacing Arvind Jadhav, who is being shown the door for poor management and the galloping losses the national carrier has suffered.
  • Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah was sworn-in as the governor of Tamil Nadu. Madras high court Chief Justice M Y Eqbal administered the oath of office to Rosaiah at a function in Raj Bhavan in Chennai.
