List of Important Natural Local Winds and their Types:

What is wind?

Wind is air in motion. It is produced by the uneven heating of the earth’s surface by the sun. Since the earth’s surface is made of various land and water formations, it absorbs the sun’s radiation unevenly. Two factors are necessary to specify wind: speed and direction.

Wind is caused by differences in the atmospheric pressure. When a difference in atmospheric pressure exists, air moves from the higher to the lower pressure area, resulting in winds of various speeds. There are the 5 different types of wind: Planetary Winds, Trade Winds, The Westerlies, Periodic Winds, Local Winds. Below are the names of some natural local winds from different countries and continents.
