Akshardham Temple or Swaminarayan temple built in New Delhi is a unique cultural heritage. It has been built in the memory of Jyotiradhar Lord Swaminarayan. This complex is spread over 100 acres of land. Being the world’s largest Hindu temple complex, Millions of Hindu literature and cultures and artifacts have been depicted in this temple in a beautiful style. Akshardham Temple is surrounded by Narayan Sarovar, which is a lake and takes water from 151 lakes in India. Near the lake, there are 108 faces of cow (goom), which represent 108 Hindu deities. it was included on Guinness Book of World Records on December 26, 2007.

Akshardham Temple (Delhi) History:

Akshardham Temple is mainly made from Rajasthani pink stones and made from Italian Carrara marble. It has been built according to Hindu craft and in the same way as other historic Hindu temples, there is no use of metal. Steel and concrete were not used while making this. This temple has 234 pieces of Pilar, 9 domes and 20000 monks, and sculptures of followers and Acharya. Gajendra Peeth is in the lower part of the temple and there is also a pillar giving homage to the elephant and it is given great importance in Hindu literature and culture. It has 148 large elephants which weigh around 3000 tons.

  7. The circumambulatory path around the temple is called Parikrama. The 3000ft long pavement also has 1200 pillars and 155 pinnacles to adorn it.
  8. Akshardham Temple looks beautiful at night. It receives around 100,000 visitors a week and around 850 volunteers work here daily.
  9. There is a food court named Premvati Ahargruh, which is modelled on the design of Ajanta and Ellora caves in Maharashtra.
