  • Grammy award-winning Italian pop singer-songwriter Laura Possini has been selected as the Goodwill Ambassador of the United Nations World Food Program (WFP).
  • Justice Syeda Tahira Safdar will be the Chief Justice of Balochistan High Court, Pakistan’s top judge announced on Monday, paving way for her to become the first woman chief justice of any court in the conservative Muslim-majority nation.   • Indian sprinter Hima Das won India’s first-ever gold as she posted time of 51.46 seconds in 400 metres in women’s final at IAAF World Under-20 Athletics Championships held in Finland. Hima Das becomes first Indian woman to win gold at Athletics Junior World Championships.
  • Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif has retired from all forms of competitive cricket on July 13. Mohammad Kaif was one of the best fielders in the Indian team. Kaif played 13 Tests and 125 ODIs for India, and he is known for his innings of 87 runs in the NatWest Trophy final in 2002 at Lord's.
  • France has won the FIFA World Cup trophy after 20 years after defeating Croatia 4-2 in the FIFA World Cup 2018 final, played at the Luzhniki Stadium in Russia on July 15. Earlier, France had won the title in the 1998 World Cup.
  • Young Indian Golfer Shubhankar Sharma won the cut in his first British Open tournament on 20 July. Shubhankar had scored 73 on the first day and after two days he was able to cross the cut with the total score of 144.
  • Young Indian badminton player Goal Sen has won gold medal in the Asia Junior Badminton Championship in Jakarta, Indonesia. The goal also reached the finals by winning the junior world champion Thailand's Kunalawat Vitidasaran 21-19, 21-18 in straight games to become the third Indian player to win this title.
  • The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) has chosen Kenya to host the 2020 World Under 20 championships. Last year IAF World Under-18 Championship was held in Nairobi.
  • Serbia's 17 year old tennis player Olga Danilovic clinched her first WTA title on 29 July 2018 with a 7-5, 6-7 (1/7), 6-4 win over Russia's Anastasia Potapova in the Moscow final.
