  • According to a report titled 2018 World Economic League Table, India will become the fifth largest economy in the world by defeating Britain and France in 2018. This report has been released by the Center for Economics and Business Research.
  • According to the report of Duff and Phelps, Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli has surpassed the superstar Shah Rukh Khan of Hindi films as a valued celebrity. Kohli's brand value reached $ 1.44 million.

  • According to the Grant Thornton’s International Business Report (IBR), India has slipped in business optimism index to the 7th position, from the 2nd slot in the July- September quarter. This list is topped by Indonesia.

  • India has ranked 28th out of 30 countries in the Melbourne Mercer Global Pension Index 2017 published by Australian Centre for Financial Studies (ACFS). Denmark has retained the top spot in this index for sixth consecutive year.

  • Two Indian women have featured on Fortune's list of Most Powerful Women in business outside the US. Managing Director and CEO of ICICI Bank Chanda Kochhar has been ranked fifth and Managing Director and CEO of Axis Bank Shikha Sharma has been ranked at 21 in this list. 
  • London has topped the 2017 Global Financial Centres Index (GFCI) among 92 financial centres released by the Z/Yen and China Development Institute. Mumbai has been ranked 60th in this index.

  • India has been ranked 4th in the Global Wind Power Installed Capacity index after China, USA and Germany with cumulative installed wind power generation capacity of 28,279 MW in 2016.
  • The 2016 World Power Language Index in the first week of December 2016 announced that English language is the most powerful language in the world. The index was published by World Economic Forum. The Index ranked English first in the top 10 most powerful languages in the world. Hindi language was ranked 10th in the 2016 PLI.
October 2016 Current Affairs
  • Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Nirmala Sitharaman on 31 October 2016 released State-wise Ease of Doing Business rankings in New Delhi. Andhra Pradesh and Telengana topped the all-India ranking with 98.78 percent each, followed by Gujarat with 98.21 per cent, Chhattisgarh with 97.32 per cent and Madhya Pradesh with 97.01 percent. Gujarat has slipped to third position from the first rank of 2015.
