  • Indian animation films which were submitted for shortlist of academy awards were 'Delhi Safari' and 'Hey Krishna' ('Krishna Aur Kans').   • Public sector lender UCO Bank stated that there was a 55 percent slump in its net profit to Rs.103.71 crore for the quarter which ended Sep 30 from Rs.230.75 crore for the same period last year.
  • Car manufacturer Ford India,the subsidiary of US auto major Ford Motor Company, aims to expand its customer touch points (sales and service) to 500 by middle of the decade when it has plans to launch eight new models.
  • The government has fined and disallowed $1 billion expense on Reliance Industries (RIL) operated KG-D6 gasfields in Andhra Pradesh as it did not incorporate the approved field development plan.

  • Fresh violence erupted in Karachi when at least 14 people were killed, seven of them within an hour, with armed men on motorcycles carrying out target killings in Pakistan's biggest city.
  • At least eight people were killed and over a dozen injured in a massive explosion in a cracker factory in Uttar Pradesh, police said today. The tragedy happened overnight in Yakubpur village in Auraiyya district.

  • Inder Kumar Gujral, former prime minister for 11 months in 1997-98, died in a Gurgaon hospital at the age of 93. He served as the external affairs minister in two non-Congress governments during the tenure of prime ministers V.P. Singh and H.D. Deve Gowda.
