  • The phone that promises the ‘best specs’ will arrive in India soon as One Plus India appoints its first GM, Vikas Agarwal. The company, headquartered in Shenzen of China, is cautious about moving ahead with their plans in India as they first want to test waters before going full throttle.
  • Suresh Prabhu, the new inductee in BJP and the new railway Minister of India, assumed his charge on November 10,2014. He stressed upon three things that he will try to implement and they are railway’s all-round development, customer satisfaction, and safety.
  • Imam Syed Ahmed Bhukhari's son Shaban Bhukari has been coronated as the fourteenth Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid. Imam Syed anointed his son as the Nabi Imam, the deputy Imam. The event was attended by thousands of Muslims in the Mosque. The walled city was in a festive mood with lights and food stalls all around.
  • United Nations has appointed leading Indian woman tennis player Sania Mirza as its Goodwill Ambassador for the region of South Asia. The selection was announced during International Day To End Violence Against Women event by UN Women. Sania reiterated her belief in Gender Equality during the event.
  • Ajit Doval, National Security Advisor and confidante of Narendra Modi, has been appointed as the Principal Secretary. He will negotiate with China on the territorial issues and also carry forward strategic consultations. Doval becomes the 5th Special Representative of India, preceded by Shivshankar Menon, M K Narayanan, JN Dixit, and Brajesh Mishra. China’s SR is Yang Jiechi.

  • World Gold Council has observed that demand for the yellow metal in India has increased to 225.1 tonnes (a rise of 39 per cent) during the period from July 2014 to September 2014 inspite of the fact that the demand fell in other parts of the world.
  • Prime Minister of Australia Tony Abbott, and PM of India Narendra Modi has signed five deals and gave the extra required push for the possible pact between India and Australia. Abbott confirmed that the free trade pact will be finalised in and around end of 2015.
  • Newly re-introduced Kisan Vikas Patra, which doubles deposited money in 100 months, has raised some concerns as the government notification of September 23 lacked proper KYC requirement. This has raised concerns that black money may get reinvested in the market through KVP. Government is expecting to raise at least Rs 35,000 crore through Kisan Vikas Patra during 2015-16 fiscal.
  • After State Bank of India’s stocks increased by 2.2 per cent at 10.08 am today, it helped to increase the market capitalisation to a staggering Rs 2,26,734 crore. HDFC Bank’s stock also increased by one per cent and its market value increased to Rs. 2,23,699 crore. This makes SBI, the most valuable bank in India. It needs special mention that SBI stock increased by 4.5 per cent in the last two trading sessions.
  • Adani Power is all set to buy Korba West Power, subsidiary of Avantha Power and Infrastructure, at a whooping cost of Rs. 4,200 crore. MoU has already being signed between the two entities.
  • Fiscal deficit during April-October 2014 reached Rs. 4.76 lakh crore, which accounts for 89.6 per cent of the total estimated fiscal deficit (FD) target of Rs. 5.31 lakh crore for 2014-15. During corresponding period last year, it was 84.4 per cent of the estimated total FD target. Tax revenue collection (37.7 per cent of the total Rs 9.77 lakh crore budget estimate of 2014-15) as well as non-tax revenue (52.3 per cent of estimated Rs 2.12 lakh crore) were slow till October 2014.

  • Jarbom Gamlin, former CM of Arunachal Pradesh, passed away on November 30 at a hospital in Gurgaon, Haryana. The 53-year old politician was suffering from liver thrombosis. Last rites will take place in Arunachal Pradesh’s Aalo, located in West Siang district. Gamlin started his political career with People's Party of Arunachal.

  • Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza said that she was working on her autobiography but not decided its release date. As per media reports, she has written 26 chapters of her autobiography and new chapters are being added.
  • Out of one million entries from all across India, fifteen-year-old Vaidehi Reddy won the ‘Doodle 4 Google’ design competition. Her doodle was also featured on the homepage of Google India to mark Children’s Day (November 14). With a title “Natural and Cultural Paradise — Assam” Vaidehi's doddle displayed the culture and bio diversity of Assam.

  • Parliamentary leader of INC, Mallikarjun Kharge, was not allowed to become opposition leader because of the lesser number of seats attained by his party. However, the senior Congress leader is included in the three member committee that will choose the next Chief Information Commissioner. The committee will be headd by the Prime Minister himself. The third member of this important committee is Arun Jaitley.
  • Maharashtra Congress will meet on November 6 to elect its leader as well as deputy leader of the legislature party. For overseeing selection process of the leaders, the meeting will be attended by senior INC leaders such as Mohan Prakash and Mallikarjun Kharge. Sources within the party indicate that no factional feud will be tolerated.
  • Union minister for power, coal and renewable energy has said during his speech at India Economic Summit that government is taking it seriously to allow more participation of private players in power sector. As per Piyush Goyal’s statement, power sector in India is going to witness a massive investment, to the tune of Rs. 15.3 lakh-crore or US $250 billion, in the coming 5 years.
  • BJP national president Amit Shah attacked West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee over no development in the state, terrorist activities and the Saradha case while addressing a rally in Kolkata. He even asked for a 'Trinamool-free Bengal'.

  • Medium-range nuclear-capable Agni-II Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile (IRBM) has been successfully test-fired by India at around 9.40 am on Sunday. As per media report the trial was conducted from a mobile launcher from the Launch Complex-4 of Integrated Test Range. Agni-II's launch weight is 17 tonnes with a capacity to carry a payload of 1000 kg for a distance more than 2,000 km. The last successful test of Agni-II was conducted on April 7, 2013.

  • 12 game match between India’s Viswanathan Anand and Norway’s Magnus Carlsen has already started at World Chess Championship, organised in Sochi. Carlsen took an early lead by defeating Anand in the second game itself. He broke Anand’s defence with elan on November 9.
  • India has won 5-series One Day Tournament against Sri Lanka decisively. India won the series 5-0. India won the last match of the series by 3 wickets. Captain Virat Kohli’s 139 score out of 126 balls changed fate of the game and helped India reach the 286 target with ease. Kohli hit 3 sixes and 12 fours during the unbeaten knock.
  • The 10th game of the world chess title match between Norwegian world chess champion Magnus Carlsen and Indian challenger Viswanathan Anand in Sochi, Russia ended in a draw. This draw gave Carlsen a lead of 5.5-4.5.

  • Indian PM addressed twelfth ASEAN-India summit on 12 November 2014. Narendra Modi is on a ten-day foreign tour. His first stop is in Myanmar, where he will spend three days. While addressing the summit he asked other countries to experience India's new economic journey, started by the new Union government.
  • Indian Prime Minister reached Australia today to join G20 Summit and tweeted that the day is sunny as well as bright in Brisbane. He is scheduled to visit Melbourne, Canberra, and Sydney. G20 Summit will start on September 15, 2014.
  • Indian PM Narendra Modi is preparing to fly off to Nepal for attending SAARC Summit (November 26 and 27). Though there is no official plan of meeting Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif on the sidelines of the Summit, India has kept its door open for all possibilities. Modi’s schedule includes meetings with Mahinda Rajapaksa (Sri Lanka President), Sheikh Hasina (Bangladesh PM), and Ashraf Ghani (President of Afghanistan).
