987Hugh Capet was crowned as the King of France. He was the first of the Capetian dynasty which ruled the France until the French Revolution of 1792. 1760Maratha army captured Delhi under Sadashiv Rao Bhau and Vishvas Rao. Sadashiv Rao Bhau was the nephew of Peshwa Baji Rao I. He served as the Sarsenapati of the Maratha army in the third battle of Panipat. He died fighting in the third battle of Panipat. Vishwas Rao was the eldest son of Balaji Baji Rao who was Peshwa of Pune of the Maratha Empire and also was the heir to the title of Peshwa of Maratha Empire. He died during the period of the most extreme fighting at Third Battle of Panipat

1944World War II: Minsk was liberated from German control by Soviet troops during Operation Bagration. Operation Bagration was the codename for the Soviet 1944 Belorussian Strategic attack Operation during World War II. It cleared German forces from the eastern Poland and Belorussian SSR.
1969The largest explosion in the history of rocket science happened when the Soviet N-1 rocket exploded, subsequently destroying its launch pad. The N1 (Russian: Н1) was a heavy lifting rocket planned to deliver payloads beyond low Earth orbit, acting as the Soviet counter to the NASA Saturn V rocket. Its first stage was the most powerful rocket stage ever built.
1979Construction of the second Howrah Bridge known as the Vidyasagar Setu started. Vidyasagar Bridge is a toll bridge on the Hooghly River in West Bengal state of India. It links the cities of Kolkata .With a total length of eight hundred twenty three metres, Vidyasagar Setu is the longest cable stayed bridge in India and one of the longest in Asia.
