1818Samachar Darpan, the first vernacular newspaper, was published in Bengali language by Carey and Marshman from Serampore. The success of the Bengali monthly Digdarshan encouraged the missionaries of the Baptist Missionary Society to embark on a new venture - the publication of a Bengali newspaper. 1854The civil death procedure was abolished in France. 1999India rejected UN's offer to send special envoy to defuse indo-pak tensions.The tensions were raised due to Kargil War. The Kargil War, also known as the Kargil conflict, was an armed conflict between India and Pakistan that took place between May and July 1999 in the Kargil district of Kashmir and elsewhere along the Line of Control (LOC).
2013The asteroid 1998 QE2 and its moon make their closest approach to Earth for the next two centuries. 1998 QE2 is a near-Earth asteroid 2.75 kilometers (1.71 mi) in diameter. It was discovered on August 19, 1998, by the Lincoln Near Earth Asteroid Research (LINEAR) program located near Socorro, New Mexico. 1998 QE2 has an observation arc of 14 years and a well-determined orbit.
